Aspen Ridge wants to take its sprawling Crosstown community higher, proposing five residential towers ranging from 42 to 60 storeys near Don Mills and Eglinton in Toronto.
The revised plans would bring 2,540 homes to four development blocks at 844 Don Mills Rd. and 1150 Eglinton Ave. E., part of the 60-acre former Celestica campus being transformed into a mixed-use neighbourhood.
The biggest change would see an approved 10-storey building and townhouses replaced with a 42-storey tower containing 440 units. Elsewhere, two towers previously approved at 40 and 48 storeys would rise to 54 and 60 storeys.
Those two tallest buildings would contain 1,157 condominiums, a significant commitment as Toronto’s condo market continues to struggle. It remains unclear whether the other three proposed towers would be condos or rentals.
Crosstown already includes completed condominium towers, office space and purpose-built rental housing, with further construction underway.
The development also stands to benefit from the Ontario Line, now under construction, which will eventually connect with the Eglinton Crosstown LRT at Don Valley station.
