National homebuilder Taylor Morrison has purchased Rose Hill Village, a vacant shopping center in Kirkland, for $27 million to build townhomes.

The new townhome development will be called Rose 85, and the project is scheduled to be completed by late 2027. Taylor Morrison paid $27 million for the 3.42-acre Rose Hill Village at 12631 NE 85th St., reported the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The seller, MainStreet Property Group, offloaded the property four years after acquiring it for $20.5 million. The Kirkland-based company had planned to develop a two-building, 575,000-square-foot office complex, but as demand for office space declined, the firm chose not to proceed with the project.

The Rose Hill Village site includes a circa-1960, 16,000-square-foot building and a 167-square-foot coffee stand. Another conversion project of an office building, once occupied by Verizon, in Bellevue’s Eastgate neighborhood, is being turned into 77 townhomes by Taylor Morrison.
