A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday at the site near CF Chinook Centre in the city’s southwest quadrant. The project is located on 61st Avenue S.W. between the mall and the Chinook Centre C-Train station.
“This groundbreaking residential development in Calgary is a testament to Cadillac Fairview’s vision for creating vibrant, connected communities,” said Sal Iacono, CF’s president and CEO. “Residential development is not new to CF and we are proud to bring essential housing to this important community as we continue to shape the future of urban living across Canada.”
The development will deliver 490 rental apartments across two towers. Amenities will include co-working spaces, lounges, wellness facilities, and direct transit access. CF said the project will reinforce its CF’s commitment to building vibrant, connected communities across Canada.
“Cadillac Fairview has a rich and enduring legacy in Calgary, exemplified by the success of CF Chinook Centre, a beloved destination that recently celebrated its 60th anniversary,” said Brian Salpeter, CF’s executive vice-president of development. “The launch of our new residential building marks a significant expansion of our presence in this dynamic city and we are honoured to continue contributing to Calgary’s growth and long-term success by providing exceptional living experiences.”
The project is CF’s fourth residential development in Canada, following developments in Ottawa and Montreal. The company said it represents a “pivotal step” in addressing Calgary’s housing needs.
